YCD Newsletter 2009 - Week 4

Dear Parents and Campers:

The rain couldn’t keep our spirits down this week!! Harry Potter and Ice Age were a nice surprise when it rained on our parade on Tuesday. “Wanna buy a duck?”  QUACK! The sound of ducks could be heard all through the camp Thursday, when we celebrated our web footed friends by having Ducky Day! We did special duck games, decorated duck collages and even lived like ducks in the rain!

We can’t believe our first session is over. We said goodbye to a few of our favorite counselors this week. We will miss Noah Lerner, Ethan Lerner, Jonathan Schwartz and Amanda Cove. We wish you a great rest of the summer.

Picture Day is next Friday, July 31. Don’t forget to send in your picture money and forms!

Please apply sunscreen to your children in the morning. We will reapply throughout the day. Children should come to camp wearing sneakers and bathing suits. And label everything!

Cooking Corner

This week in cooking, we made Dirt Cups. Here’s the recipe:

2 Cups Cold Milk

1 Package Chocolate Instant Pudding

1 (8oz.) Container Cool Whip

Pour milk into bowl. Add pudding mix. Stir until well blended, 1-2 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in whipped topping and half of the crushed cookies. Place 1 tablespoon of crushed cookies on bottom of a cup. Fill ¾ full with pudding mixture. Top with crushed cookies. Refridgerate for 1 hour. Decorate with candy worms, frogs or flowers.
